Question: Was the witches’ prophesying was just a way to look into the future or acted as a driven force towards the prophet? / Do we control our fate or does the fate control ourselves?

Evidence:
1. Before Macbeth and Banquo met the three witches, they did not wish for any significant power. Although even after they met the witches they just laughed at the prophesy that they have just heard. When they heard that Macbeth just became a thane of Cawdor just like what the prophet has said, not thinking that it was just a coincidence, he started to question himself. Deep inside of Macbeth mind, he begins to believe that he has the potential to become the king. He wants his real life to be what the witches had said about him. If he hadn’t heard the prophets, then his action could have been different. “This supernatural soliciting cannot be ill; cannot be good. If ill, why hath it given me earnest of success, commencing in a truth? I am Thane of Cawdor.”. (act1,3
2. Also, Macbeth himself feared of people when he was murdering people to gain the king’s power. In addition, he felt guilty deep inside, showing that he is not perfectly sure what he is doing and what does he want to get. His true mind doesn’t seem to match with his action and thinking. “ I’ll go no more: I am afraid to think what I have done; Look on’t again I dare not..” ( act2,2)He directly tells Lady Macbeth what the three witches had told him as if he was proud.
3. When Macbeth does not what to do, he goes off and sees witches to find answers. Also, he wants to know about his future. Although the witches are acting as prophets, they seems to be acting as a guide for Macbeth.” Whate’er thou art, for thy good caution thanks; Thou hast harped my fear aright. But one word more-“ ( act4,1) His action is mostly depends on what the witches are telling him. The prophets seems like a goal for Macbeth.
